Document Guidelines
To ensure that the documents attached to your application are the best quality possible, we advise all applicants to print and read the guidelines below.
The following are general document guidelines:
- Copy your documents on to plain white paper.
- Send only first-generation copies (copies made from an original).
- Use a size 12 font whenever possible.
- Send single-sided copies. Double-sided copies will not be attached.
- Make sure your copies are the most legible possible. Copies that are too light, blurred, too dark, or in color will not scan well.
- To ensure that the correct documents are attached to your credentials file, always include a completed cover sheet.
To see your documents, login to your application. On the menu page there is a table called "Documents Associated with this Application." In the table, you will see the category of document (such as transcripts, child abuse, etc.) and underneath the category name will be either a link to a jpeg image file, the words "on file," or the word "none." You can click on the "jpeg link" or the words "on file" to see the actual document.
The following documents will not be attached to your application:
- Copies of documents that have been made using a scanner or fax machine. The process PA-Educator.net uses to attach documents to credential files may cause the scanned copies to become completely illegible.
- Documents that have been copied onto colored paper. This does not include "original" transcripts.
- Copies of documents that have been "shrunk."
- Expired clearances or copies of the actual application form.
- Grade Reports, Audit Sheets, or Check Sheets.
- Out-of-state documents (e.g., out-of-state teaching certificates, clearances, etc. . .)
- Teaching evaluations or observations.
- Reference Lists.
