Step One - Complete Online Application

The following are instructions that will help you complete an online version of the Standard Application for Teaching Positions in Pennsylvania Public Schools.

1. Make sure you have a compatible browser.
   In order to use this site, you must use one of the following browsers:
   
   
• PC USERS - Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher or Mozilla Firefox 1.5 or higher
• MAC USERS - Mozilla Firefox 1.5 or higher or Safari 2.0 or higher.
• LINUX USERS - Mozilla Firefox 1.5 or higher

To verify your browser's version, click the "Help" button at the top of your Internet browser's window. Scroll down and click "About Communicator" or "About Internet Explorer." The first line will tell you the "browser version" of Communicator or Explorer you are using.

PA-Educator is NOT RESPONSIBLE for applications submitted using other Internet browser versions including AOL issued browsers.

2. Your browser must be able to handle cookies.
   For further information about cookies use your browsers "Help" button to search for the information on "cookies."
 
3. Email Address - In order to put an application online, you MUST have an email address. Free email accounts are available on the Internet.
   
   Be sure your email service provider does not treat email messages sent from PA-Educator.net as spam. If you have any questions regarding this issue, contact your email service provider.
   
   Make sure that the email address on your application is current. Since school districts/intermediate units use the email address on the application to contact applicants, update it any time that it changes.
 
4. General Recommendations:
   
   
• To make the typing process easier, we recommend that you use a completed paper version of the Standard Application as a reference for completing the online application. To visit the PA Department of Education website and print out a copy of the Standard Application, click here.
• Make sure that you complete all SEVEN sections of the application. It should take you less than one hour to complete the entire application.
• Use abbreviations, if necessary, for information to fit into the text boxes provided.
• You have to type/cut and paste your resume, letter of interest, and the PA required Standard Essay into the text boxes provided on the application.
• After completing the application, print out and PROOFREAD the application.
• Please note - there is a 30-minute session limit for using PA-Educator.net. This means that you have approximately 30 minutes before you must "save" the page you are completing. We suggest that you click the save button on the bottom of each page intermittently throughout the application process.
• Make sure you answer each question accurately. If you are unsure of what a question means, use the contact PA-Educator button on the left and send us a detailed email for further clarification.
